GIOVANNI BELLINI, Influences croisées

The first exhibition in France devoted to the work of Giovanni Bellini, one of the founders of the Venetian school and the great master who opened the way to the art of color and tone for which the Serenissima is famous.

The exhibition presents about fifty works from public and private European collections, some of which are presented for the first time. This exhibition highlights the art of Giovanni Bellini and the artistic influences that permeate his visual language.

The Palais des Invalides is a French architectural complex dating from the seventeenth century, located in the seventh arrondissement of Paris, close to the Military Academy.

Designed to be a royal residence for militaries and French soldiers, retirees, disabled or elderly, now houses several museums and religious institutions as well as various services and organizations for veterans.

Auguste Rodin is one of the most outstanding French sculptors of the second half of the nineteenth century. He revolutionized sculpture by a new form of freedom. His famous Thinker is unbalanced, consisting of five triangles in a precarious arrangement, expressing the nature of the course of thought and its relationship to the body.

Re-exploring mannerisms through his work with material, Rodin expresses with sculptures, such as The Kiss, a new sort of sensuality that sometimes has shocked the public of that time. Rodin's work is easily recognizable for its finished forms that remain partially in a block more rustic and partially sided. The result is always striking a balance between a model stuck in the gross mass and momentum for the work that seems so ready to escape.

Well known throughout the world, the Eiffel Tower is a symbol of the capital. With its 320 meters high, this monument was erected in 1889 for the Universal Exhibition in Paris.

The Musée d'Orsay is a museum on the left bank of the Seine. It is housed in the former Gare d'Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station built between 1898 and 1900. The museum holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography. It houses the largest collection of impressionist and post-Impressionist masterpieces in the world, by painters including Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gauguin, and Van Gogh. Many of these works were held at the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume prior to the museum's opening in 1986. It is one of the largest art museums in Europe.

The Louvre is the largest museum in Paris with more than 210.000sqm, including 60.600 dedicated to exhibitions, making it one of the largest in the world.
